Set in a renovated machiya townhouse south of Kawaramachi, Sakadokoro Terayama moved here from Pontocho in 2019 and has built a devoted following for its sake-forward izakaya cooking. Intimate counter seating and an upstairs tatami room create a quietly refined backdrop for a menu built around careful, seasonal small plates. A repeat honoree on Tabelog’s Izakaya Hyakumeiten list, it is closed on Thursdays.
