Yakitori Kono-ji (焼鳥 コの字)

A no-frills, cash-only yakitori counter in downtown Takasaki, Kono-ji draws lines of regulars for its charcoal-grilled skewers and famously low prices. The shop takes no reservations and simply closes once the skewers run out, making for a true walk-in, drink-with-your-neighbors izakaya experience. It is one of the few Gunma prefecture shops ever selected for Tabelog’s Yakitori Hyakumeiten, prized by locals for honest grilling rather than flash.
