Shinki (伸喜)

A few minutes from Sakuragicho Station in Yokohama’s Noge district, Shinki is a counter-only yakitori spot with just eleven seats and a strict no-reservations policy, meaning regulars simply show up and wait their turn. The kitchen has held a place among Tabelog’s Yakitori East Top 100 for years running, a rare feat for a neighborhood joint with no frills beyond the fire itself. Service is unhurried and old-school, with skewers grilled to order in a room too small to ever feel anonymous. Coming on a weekday evening or the shorter Saturday hours is the only way in, since Monday and Sunday find the shutters down entirely.
