Muteppou Sohonten is the founding flagship of the Muteppou ramen group, opened in Kizugawa, Kyoto Prefecture in 2003. It is known for its intensely rich, fatty tonkotsu broth piled high with back fat, a maximalist style that has since spawned sister locations across the Kansai region, including branches in Osaka and Nara. The spacious shop even includes a dedicated kids’ play area, making it a family-friendly stop for diners craving a heavy, indulgent bowl of pork bone ramen. It was selected for the Tabelog Ramen Hyakumeiten (West) 2025 awards.
