Established in 1952, Mimasu is a long-running everyman’s tavern near Shimonoseki Station’s east exit, known especially for fugu (pufferfish) dishes and fresh live-fish cooking. Its unpretentious counter-and-tatami setting and cash-only, no-frills service have made it a neighborhood institution, and it has been named to the Tabelog Hyakumeiten Izakaya WEST list in both 2024 and 2025.
