Kappo Makino is a Japanese kappo-style restaurant near Shin-Baba Station in Shinagawa, specializing in live conger eel (anago) prepared to order along with other fresh seafood. Founded in 1934, it has been named to Tabelog’s 2025 Hyakumeiten (Top 100) izakaya list for eastern Japan and is considered a difficult reservation to secure. Note: in addition to its regular Sunday closure, the restaurant is also closed on alternating Mondays; calling ahead to confirm is recommended. It is unrelated to izakaya near the similarly-named Makino Station in Osaka Prefecture.
