へんこつ (Henkotsu)

Henkotsu is a no-reservation, cash-only izakaya a short walk from Kyoto Station, best known for its beef hot pot (gyunabe) and red-miso-based stew, along with oden. The shop carries a ‘members-only’ sign that functions more as an informal filter for regulars than a strict policy, giving it a clubby, old-school neighborhood-tavern character. It has been a repeat Tabelog Hyakumeiten Izakaya WEST honoree, including in 2025, and is closed Sundays and public holidays.
