Dote no Shinagawa (どての品川)

A Showa-era holdout near Horita Station, Dote no Shinagawa has been simmering its signature miso-glazed beef offal since the late 1950s, now in the hands of a third-generation owner. Order skewers of dote-yaki, ton-yaki, and kushikatsu at ¥120 apiece alongside a cold draft beer, standing at the counter or squeezed onto one of its old tatami benches.

It’s cash-only, unhurried in spirit despite the name ‘standing bar,’ and one of Nagoya’s most storied neighborhood drinking spots.
