Sakana Kobo Maruman (さかな工房 丸万)

Sakana Kobo Maruman is a family-run seafood izakaya in Matsuyama, Ehime, with roots stretching back roughly 130 years and now in its fourth generation of ownership. The compact space focuses on simply prepared, high-quality local fish rather than luxury presentation, and its reputation was boosted nationally by an appearance on the TV series Solitary Gourmet (Kodoku no Gurume).

Its Tabelog Hyakumeiten selection reflects a long-standing local following for honest, seasonal seafood cooking. Note: in addition to its regular Wednesday closure, the restaurant is also closed on alternating Thursdays; confirming by phone is recommended.
