Bar Gaudi is the playful second concept from the team behind Kyoto beloved standing bar Watanabe Yokocho, opened in February 2018 near Gojo Station with a distinctly Spanish and Italian twist. A circular central counter anchors a bright, friendly room where a chalkboard menu blends Japanese izakaya staples with tapas-style plates such as aji fry with tartar sauce, dashi-rolled eggs, ajillo, and Basque cheesecake, backed by inexpensive wine and highballs.
With forty seats split between counter and sofa seating, it draws a loyal crowd of regulars and has been featured in regional guides to Kansai standing-bar scene. Note that the shop occasionally closes on Sundays in addition to its regular Monday closure, and cash is the only accepted payment.
