Jack to Machilda

Tucked down a quiet alley near Fukushima Station in Osaka, Jack to Machilda is a standing-only bar beloved for its surprisingly elegant atmosphere, drawing a notably high share of female customers and couples compared to a typical tachinomi. The signature dish is raw white beef liver sashimi dressed in sesame oil and salt, served alongside smoked nuts and kimchi-stewed pork. The drinks list leans heavily into Japanese sake served by the measure, supplemented by craft beers. It has become popular enough as a late-night spot that it has spawned a sister branch inside LUCUA Osaka at Umeda Station. It was selected for Tabelog’s 2025 Top 100 Standing Bars.
