Tachinomidokoro Tanakaya is a standing-bar annex of a liquor shop founded in 1931 within Akashi’s famous Uonotana fish-market shopping arcade, with the current owner expanding what was once a small tasting corner into a full standing-bar format in 2004. The shop is known for more than ten made-to-order daily dishes, including beef tendon stew, fresh sea bream, and Akashi’s famous local octopus, paired with a curated selection of roughly one hundred sake labels from about forty breweries, alongside craft beer and natural wine. Entered through a narrow side passage beside the liquor shop, it has a hidden speakeasy atmosphere with an L-shaped counter and barrel tables, drawing praise from reviewers for quality exceeding typical izakaya standards. Note: the generic name is shared by several unrelated restaurants elsewhere in Japan; this listing is specifically for the Uonotana, Akashi location.
