Donko is a well-established izakaya in central Kochi City, set in an atmospheric old wooden building down a narrow backstreet near Harimaya-bashi. It specializes in Kochi’s signature local dishes, including bonito and mackerel sushi, served alongside a strong sake selection in a nostalgic, Showa-era setting. A repeat Hyakumeiten honoree, it is also featured on the official Kochi Prefecture tourism website, though its once-popular lunch service was discontinued in September 2024 and it now operates dinner only.
