Takeno is a third-generation, family-run izakaya in Tsukiji, founded in 1935 and originally a sweet shop for naval academy cadets before converting to a restaurant in 1947. Set in a quiet backstreet near the old outer market, it is known for fresh sashimi and simmered fish, and retains a nostalgic second-floor bar where orders are still sent down via vintage piping. It was named to Tabelog’s 2025 Izakaya EAST Hyakumeiten (Top 100) list.
