Kaneda (金田)

Kaneda is a long-established izakaya in Jiyugaoka, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, founded in 1936 and known locally as a “sake school” for its emphasis on quality nihonshu alongside dishes such as homemade sesame tofu and shrimp shinjo. It occupies three floors near Jiyugaoka Station’s north exit, with a walk-in, no-reservation counter on the first floor and reservable table seating above. In addition to its regular Sunday and holiday closures, it is occasionally closed on Wednesdays on an irregular, monthly basis. It was named to Tabelog’s 2025 Izakaya EAST Hyakumeiten (Top 100) list.
