Kijiya (きじや)

In the Kijiya-cho area of Hitoyoshi, Kumamoto Prefecture, Kijiya (formally Kiji to Suisha no Sato Kijiya) is a fully reservation-only restaurant specializing in kiji, or pheasant, cuisine. The restaurant is open from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closing Tuesdays and Wednesdays (open on holidays, with the following day closed instead), and dinner typically runs ¥2,000 to ¥2,999 per person. Its recognition on the 2025 Tabelog Hyakumeiten toriryori (chicken cuisine) list marks it as one of Japan’s most distinctive game bird specialty restaurants.
