Yakitori Kissho (焼鳥 吉祥)

Tucked into a quiet lane in Nagoya’s Higashi-ku, Yakitori Kissho is a Bib Gourmand-recognized grillhouse set inside a converted pre-war house. Chefs grill specially selected Nagoya Cochin chicken, cut by cut, over premium Kishu binchotan charcoal, carefully judging the seasoning and heat for each part of the bird. The restaurant also pours a rotating list of roughly thirty regional sakes alongside a range of wines, and English-speaking staff are on hand for international guests. Reservations are strongly recommended, since seats fill quickly with fans of Nagoya’s famed heritage chicken.
